Summer Solstice Celebration of 2019

To mark the 2019 summer solstice, the Centre for Renewable Energy Development (CDER) is organizing a ceremony to promote scientific research and technological innovation on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at its headquarters in Bouzareah.
As is customary, the ceremony will provide an opportunity to recognize and honor the most outstanding scientific achievements and accomplishments at the national level.
The 2019 Summer Solstice prize for the best EPST CDER research teams that made the greatest contribution to technological development during the 2014–2018 period is awarded to:
• The Solar and Wind Energy Potential Team, Renewable Energy Research Unit in the Saharan Environment (URERMS-CDER);
• The Mini-Thermodynamic Power Plants Team, Applied Renewable Energy Research Unit (URAER-CDER);
• The Desalination and Distillation of Brackish Water and Seawater Team, Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES-CDER).
• The Aerodynamics Team, CDER.
The Scientific Publication prize will be presented to Dr. Abdelhalim Borni, a permanent researcher at URAER-CDER in Ghardaïa, in recognition of his numerous publications over the past five years in the field of renewable energy, particularly in indexed scientific journals.
The Prize for the Promotion of Renewable Energy will be awarded this year to Hamid Belkessam, a specialized journalist, in recognition of his long-standing commitment to the cause.
The Summer Solstice celebration will also provide an opportunity to discover the latest research results from CDER . The event will also feature a presentation of the first edition of the Atlas of Energy Resources of Algeria by different contributing authors.
This day will also mark the launch of the new version of the Algerian Renewable Energy Portal website.
This annual event is also an opportunity to pay tribute to Dr. Nachida Kesbadji-Merzouk, former Director of the Solar Equipment Development Unit affiliated with CDER (Renewable Energy Development Center), in recognition of her unwavering dedication and long-standing commitment to renewable energy since 1986.
To close the ceremony, CDER will honor the Heliothermal Equipment and Applications (EAH) team of UDES-CDER, recipients of " the National Energy Globe Award Algeria 2019", presented by the Austrian "Energy Globe Foundation" in recognition of their outstanding research in renewable energy and sustainable development in Algeria.
