CDER organizes competitions for the creation of start-ups in the field of renewable energy: Press Release
The Renewable Energy Development Centre (CDER), in collaboration with the National Agency for the Valorisation of research results and Technological Development (ANVREDET), is launching the DZ Clean Energy Challenge Days on 29 November 2018 at its Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES) in Bousmail.Aimed at young people with innovative ideas in the field of renewable energy and its applications, this three-day competition is part of the “Grand Challenges 2018” initiative, launched by the Directorate-General for Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT).

Algeria is an energy-rich country par excellence, and to remain so, it must diversify its energy sources by developing new and renewable energies. Growing awareness of the need to preserve resources, optimise their use, and develop alternative solutions now calls for a transformation of our national energy model. This shift, initiated by the National Programme for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, must be grounded in research and innovation in order to develop future solutions and accelerate their large-scale deployment.
In this context, it is imperative to support start-ups and young inventors to facilitate the emergence of a new economy based on knowledge and innovation. This will enable Algeria to achieve its goals of improving the quality of life for its citizens, reducing unemployment, and positioning itself as a leading African country in the green economy. The DZ Clean Energy Challenge Days will begin on Thursday, 29 November, with 19 project proposers working on themes ranging from solar energy and smart solutions to environmental protection and agriculture. These participants, aged between 19 and 44, come from the four corners of Algeria (from Tlemcen to Oum el Bouaghi, and from Algiers to Ghardaïa). On the first day of the competition, they will present their projects to a jury, which will select the top eight. The selected project proposers will then receive coaching from approximately ten experts specialising in various aspects of business creation (legal, financial, patent protection, and market research etc.).
On 1 December, the third and final day of the competition, the candidates will present their business plans before a jury, which will select the three winners of the DZ Clean Energy Challenge Days. The top winner will receive support from CDER and ANVREDET (National Agency for the Valorisation of Research Results and Technological Development) to establish their company and bring their project to life.

We would like to thank the sponsors of this event — Sonelgaz, Algerian Energy Company SPA (AEC), MIILTech, ENERGY RAK, and Sarl CV COMPUTER — whose support made this event possible
