The UDES / CDER organizes a Day on Renewable Energies and Agriculture (JERA’2018) on Wednesday December 26, 2018 in Bouismail (Press release)
The Solar Equipment Development Unit affiliated with the Renewable Energy Development Center is organizing a Day on Renewable Energies and Agriculture (JERA’2018) on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at its headquarters in Bouismail.
Agriculture and energy are priority sectors that Algeria considers strategic and structuring of the national economy. Indeed, the agricultural development master plan put in place by the government has attributed to agriculture the role of a real engine of economic growth to ensure the significant improvement of the country’s food security, which has today become a national security issue. These objectives can only be achieved by ensuring a sustainable energy supply.
The energy needs of the agricultural sector are constantly increasing with the population growth and the area of cultivable land. Energy supply to farms remains problematic due to remoteness, high costs, energy products and connection to the power grid. Renewable energies can contribute to the resolution of this problem and this by the numerous solutions and possibilities that they offer. It is in this context that the Solar Equipment Development Unit UDES / EPST CDER in collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture of the Wilaya of Tipaza- CAW, organize a day on renewable energies and agriculture (JERA’2018 ) at UDES headquarters on Wednesday December 26, 2018.
This day will bring together the main actors involved in this issue (researchers, farmers, decision-makers, etc.) in order to discuss the challenges to be met and the strategies to adopt to integrate renewable energies into the agricultural sector and thus ensure its development.
JERA’2018 will also allow, based on past experiences, to identify the levers to operate and the brakes to be lifted to promote the use of renewable energy systems in the agricultural sector. This event is also an opportunity to discuss the multiple possibilities of financial incentives that can help promote the use of renewable energies in agriculture.
Topics to be discussed at JERA’2018
• Electricity production by ER: Pumping, intelligent irrigation, lighting ... etc.
• Solar thermal: Drying, hot water, production of cold.
• Water treatment: purification of waste water, desalination and reuse (irrigation, cleaning, etc.).
• Bioenergy.
