France Ambassador in Algeria pays a visit to our Renewable Energy Research Unit in the Saharan Area
On Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 9 a.m., the Research Unit for Renewable Energies in the Saharan Area (URER / MS) welcomed, at its headquarters, His Excellency the Ambassador of France to Algeria, Xavier Driencourt, who was carrying out an official visit to the Wilaya of Adrar.
Accompanied by Messrs. Wali of Arrar, PAPW and a large delegation, the Ambassador was received by the Director of the Unit and the Division Directors.
During his visit to URER / MS, the French Ambassador was able to get a closer look at the various applications and prototypes made by the researchers who provided him with all the necessary explanations. Among these research products, we can name the Solar cooker, the photovoltaic pumping system, the vertical axis wind turbine of the H-DARRIEUS type with direct attack of 2.5 KW, the Biodiesel Production System from used oils and vegetable oils extracted from the grains, the prototype solar dryer intended for drying various foods and produced in the Saharan area and the prototype of solar distiller.
On the sidelines of this visit, the researchers made practical demonstrations of the autonomous solar power supply system on the "solar tent" and the engine running on biodiesel.
Finally, the tour ended at the conference room, where the Ambassador attended a brief presentation by the Director of URER / MS on the unit, its missions, its divisions and research teams and the main achievements. This presentation was followed by introducing the 28 KW photovoltaic station designed as part of the Cooperation Program for Development with the Republic of Korea.
