The work of the 1st International Congress on Renewable Energies, Energy Security and Food took place at the International Conference Center Abdelatif Rahal from 1 to 3 April 2018 under the theme "the pillars in the framework of sustainable national development".

The meeting was opened by the Minister of Energy, Mustapha Guitouni, in the presence of the Ministers, respectively, Finance, Abderrahmane Raouya, Environment and Renewable Energy, Fatma Zohra Zarouati, Industry and Mines, Youcef Yousfi, and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tahar Hadjar, as well as heads of energy organizations, researchers and national and international experts.

Professor Noureddine Yassaa, Director of the CDER intervened in the first panel giving a lecture entitled "Role of stakeholders in the emergence and development of technopoles in Algeria: feedback", where he spoke about the role of the scientific research and technology development in the implementation of the National Renewable Energy Program by reviewing human resource and research infrastructure capabilities including EPST CDER technology platforms and SKTM pilot plants .

During the three days of the congress, several conferences were presented on renewable energies, energy security and food security in Algeria. In this regard, the experts of the EPST CDER have led communications on green energy among them a conference was given by Dr. Belkacem Bouzidi, Director of the UDES / CDER, on the "development of the south, central axis in the national security (energy-food)", Dr Sadek Igoud, Team Leader at UDES / CDER, through a conference on "the Nexus Water-Energies-Renewables" and Mr. Hamza MERABET Researcher at the CDER on "Resolutions of COP23 vs. climate change ".

Dr Amine Akbi, Researcher at the CDER, also participated in the Food Security & Energy Recovery & Water Issues workshop as protractor.

Dr. Nashida Merzouk-Kasbadji, Ms. Leila Merabti, Dr. Tassalit Djilali, Mr. Rabah Sellami and Mr. Abdelkrim Chenak as well as the above-mentioned researchers also participated in the various workshops.
