CDER celebrates the Earth Hour 2018 Global Event
The Renewable Energy Development Center participated in the Earth Hour global event, organized under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Sidra association with the sponsorship of the wilaya of Algiers and several Ministries as well as concerned actors, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Grand Post Office of Algiers and at the Ibn Khaldoun Hall.

The "Earth Hour" event aims to sensitize the citizen in a festive setting to the cause of the preservation of the environment, to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels by turning off the lights for one hour and thus, encourage a more ecological use of energy and promote the production and use of renewable energies.

This event took place at the post office of Algiers through exhibition stands presented by the CDER, ANCC, AND, the Sidra Association ... and at the Ibn Khaldoun Hall by a panel of experts on the themes of climate change, energy saving and renewable energies.

CDER researchers, engineers and communication officers met at the grand post office to present the activities of the center and answer the many questions of visitors who visited the stand in force. A remarkable interest of the visitors focused on the techno-economic feasibility of the electrical supply of the homes and the agricultural pumping with the solar energy.

The CDER stand has included:
A solar table that allows to have a clean energy that can be installed in hotels, homes and especially in isolated areas (forests, desert and the seaside),
A retractable Photovoltaic generator that can also be used in isolated areas by nomads, small businesses and design offices,
A map of wind farm of Algeria,
A Geothermal Deposit Map of Algeria,
A solar map of Algeria.

The Ibn Khaldoun hall had festivities at the height of the event in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Renewable Energies, the Minister of Communication and the Wali of Algiers. A panel of experts was organized with the participation of the Director of the CDER, Professor Noureddine Yassaa, who gave a presentation entitled "Renewable energies for local development".

The CDER also provided the solar power supply of a chain 3 radio platform during a live broadcast at Bastion 23 from 8pm to 9pm with the participation of Dr Fathi Mohamed, Researcher at the Unit CDER affiliated Solar Equipment Development (UDES) to talk about smart lighting and renewable energies.
