Information day on the PRIMA program at UDES / CDER
As part of the PRIMA program, the Directorate General of Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT) organized Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the headquarters of the Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES) affiliated to the Renewable Energy Development Center (CDER), an information day on the launch of the 2018 call for proposals (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Zone). The opening of this day was given by Prof. Noureddine Yassaa, Director of CDER and Prof. Mohamed Bouhicha, Director of Studies at the DGRSDT and National Contact Point of the PRIMA program.

PRIMA is a program to tackle the main challenges of water resources and food systems, its funding will reach € 500 million over 10 years, of which € 220 million will be provided by the EU, while the rest will come from participating States of which Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.
According to Pr. BOUHICHA, Algeria is committed to contribute through a rich program for an amount of 20 million euros in the following fields:
Domain 1: WATER MANAGEMENT: Research Themes
- Reuse of water and desalination of water for agricultural and food production,
- Availability and quality of water resources in watersheds and aquifers,
- Sustainable and integrated management of water,
- Irrigation technologies and practices.
Domain 2: AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS Research Themes
- Ecosystems of sustainable agricultural production,
- Adaptation of agriculture to climate change,
- Prevent the emergence of animal and plant diseases,
- Develop farming systems that generate income, create jobs and contribute to balanced territorial development.
Domain 3: CHAINS OF AGRO-FOOD VALUE Research Themes
- Implementation of innovation in the agri-food chain, promotion of higher quality, sustainability and competitiveness, with particular reference to smallholders,
- Valorize food products from the traditional Mediterranean diet,
- Food security in local food chains,
- Implications of dietary changes and sustainable diets for Med populations and the food industry.
