The University of Blida hosts the International Forum on Investment in Renewable Energies
All reports from intergovernmental and non-governmental bodies have confirmed that global warming has significantly affected the lives of all living beings on all continents and oceans. The human impact on the climate system is clear and growing as many of the changes seen since the 1950s have been unprecedented for decades and thousands of years. All of this is linked to human activities that have constantly depleted the environment and extracted energy from polluting sources. However, at present, the voices of diversion are starting to increase with the need for energy transfer based on alternative energies to reduce climate change and its risks. There are many solutions for humanity that enable the economic and social development of countries.
In the current Algerian context where the energy sector is moving towards sustainable energies with a production plan of 22 gigawatts of renewable energies by 2030. In this perspective, the University of Blida "2" will organize an international seminar on investment in renewable energies in Algeria on February 26 and 27, 2018.
This forum, which will bring together many investors, experts and researchers from around the world will discuss the possibility of an energy transition, the potential of alternative energy that the country has, as well as the investment climate in Algeria and the different means of achieving the objectives outlined by the state, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions because of their dangers and risks. This was confirmed by Algeria at the climate change COP23 held in Bonn, Germany, in November of last year, declaring its compliance with its commitments to the global effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. through a series of actions, including the deployment of renewable energies, energy efficiency and the rational management of natural resources, which aim to achieve green growth.
The forum will address the following issues: To what extent does investing in renewable energy contribute to achieving sustainable development? The second theme addresses the legal and regulatory frameworks that manage investments in Algeria, the third axis reviews the reality of investments in renewable energies in Algeria and the challenges of sustainable development, the fourth axis presents the Arab and international experiences in investment in renewable energies.
Among the stated objectives of the forum we quote: the great importance especially at the national level of the field of renewable energies, the need to intensify and accelerate research in alternative energies by researchers, stimulate businessmen to invest in the field of sustainable energy, the activation of legal procedures for the adoption of alternative energies as a strategic option, the search for alternatives to oil after the collapse of prices on world markets, discuss the challenges facing clean energy, address the development process of Algeria focusing on the development efforts of this sensitive sector to be able to formulate recommendations and advice and present proposals that can ensure adequate conditions for the renewable energy sector in Algeria in particular and in the world in general.
