As part of the promotion of the role of renewable energies in local development, the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Territorial Planning, in collaboration with the Renewable Energy Development Center, organized a seminar on sensitization of local authority staff on renewable energies for the eastern wilayas in Constantine.

This event, the second of its kind after that held last May in Ouargla for the wilayas of the South, brought together local officials representing the wilayas of the East of the country, chiefs of daïra, general secretaries of daïra and APC and representatives of operators activating in the field of renewable energies.

During this meeting, three conferences were given by EPST CDER researchers on the development of renewable energies in Algeria and the role of this sector in local economic development as well as the economic and regulatory aspects of renewable energies. Two other conferences were presented by the executives of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Territorial Planning on the Territorial promotion of energy efficiency in administrative infrastructures.

This meeting was an opportunity to sensitize local communities on the importance of the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency in local development and savings in energy expenditure.

The meeting allowed local government officials to discuss with the CDER experts various aspects related to renewable energies and energy efficiency and their promotion at the local level. The role of local authorities in promoting these communities was also discussed.
