Participation of the CDER in "ALGERIA-SOUTH AFRICA WORKSHOP ON NANOTECHNOLOGY 12 AND 13 JULY 2017, ORAN"

The CDER participated in the Algerian-South African workshop on nanotechnologies which took place in Oran on 12 and 13 July 2017 by presenting the different applications of nanotechnologies in the treatment and desalination of water and in the renewable energies with a lecture given by the Director of the CDER, Prof. Noureddine Yassaa.

The CDER also participated in the working group to define the research axes in the field of nanotechnologies / environment / renewable energies that will be the subject of bilateral research projects. The proposed axes are as following:
1. PV Solar
- Plasmonic nanostructures and up-down conversion;
- Self-cleaning and glass protection by nanocoating;
- Photovoltaic cells (e.g. Pérovskite, organic, Tandem...).
2. Carbon nanostructured:
- Electrochemical storage (e.g. supercapacitor);
- Electrode materials for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries;
- Solid storage of hydrogen and methanol.
3. Nanocomposite-photocatalysis:
- Hydrogen production by water splitting;
- Fuel cells.
4- Wind power:
- Nanocomposites and nano-modified materials for wind turbine blades;
- Nanocoatings for wind turbine blades erosion protection;
- Nanoparticle lubricants for wind turbine.
5-Solar thermal energy and Energy efficiency:
- Heat transfer nanofluids;
- Nanotechnology-based thermal insulation materials in building construction (e.g. Aerogel, Nanoceramic Thermal Insulation Coatings).
6-Water and environment:
- Thin films, coatings and nanostructure submicron membranes;
- Sea water desalination by nanomembranes.
