On the occasion of the celebration of the Summer Solstice 2017, the Renewable Energy Development Center organized a ceremony to promote scientific and technological production on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 at its headquarters in Bouzarea. As is tradition, the ceremony was an opportunity to honor the best scientific productions and achievements at national level.

The official opening of the day of the summer solstice of 2017 was given by the Director of the EPST / CDER, Prof. N. Yassaa in the presence of the Deputy Director of the CDER, Dr S. Diaf, the Chairman of the Scientific Council, Dr A. Malek, Dr B. Bouzidi, Director of the Solar Equipment Development Unit, Dr D Djelloul, Director of the Applied Research Unit on Renewable Energies, as well as the representative of the BARIQ21 Association, Mr M. Hermouche and the researchers and support staff of the CDER.

In his plenary lecture Prof. Yassaa presented the CDER’s balance sheet activities,for the year 2016, focusing on several aspects such as publications, technological achievements, prototypes and software developed by CDER researchers.

Several prizes were awarded at this event. The quality prize for scientific production was awarded to Professor El Madjid Berkouk of the National Polytechnic School of Algiers for his numerous citations of his articles in scientific databases.

Five Prizes for Best Technological Achievement were awarded to the following research teams: The first was given to the research team "Solar and Wind Energy Potential" of the Renewable Energy Research Unit in the Saharan Medium URERMS/CDER for the realization of a new wind turbine with a vertical axis of Type H-DARRIEUS with direct attack of 2.5 KW.

The URAER / CDER Renewable Energies Research Unit Mini Thermodynamics Power stations was awarded the second prize for the creation of a concentrated solar mini-tower.

The third prize was awarded to the research team "Cooling and Air Conditioning by Renewable Energy Electricity" the Solar Equipment Development Unit UDES / CDER for the realization of a mobile solar medical conservator With cold accumulation.

The production and Exploitation of bioalcohol and bio-diesel team of the Bioenergy and Environment Division at the Renewable Energy Development Center had the fourth prize for the development of an autonomous pilot system for the production of biodiesel running by renewable energies.

The fifth prize was awarded to the Engineers’ Team of the Renewable Hydrogen Division, of the CDER for the realization of a renewable hydrogen blowpipe.

This year, a new award category was introduced, called Incentive Award for the Promotion of Renewable Energies, awarded to BARIQ21, which promotes and deploys Renewable energies since 2006 in the Wilaya of Skikda.

On the occasion of this day, the CDER inaugurated a research laboratory for the experimental activities of the Hydrogen-Renewable Energy division.
