A researcher at the CDER realizes an electric car
The Renewable Energy Development Center CDER, presented at a press conference an electric car on 20 April 2017 at its headquarters in Bouzareah, Algiers, on the occasion of the knowledge day "Yawm El Ilm". This electric car was made by Mr. TOUABA Osama, a researcher at the Research Unit for Renewable Energies in the Saharan Medium attached to the CDER under the supervision of Professor Ait Chikh of the ENP.

The researcher TOUABA Osama led a conference to explain the steps involved in creating this prototype that is suitable for urban areas with zero emissions of toxic pollutants and greenhouse gases and a speed of 40 km / h which can be improved to Reach 80 km / h. This 100% Algerian car has two seats, two engines with a power of 1.2 kilowatts (equivalent to 1.7 Horses) variable according to the power of the batteries.
This electric car, which holds a patent of invention deposited at the INAPI, is a continuation of the work of the researcher who has already realized a car of one place and three wheels, working with solar energy, and will be a revolution in the automotive sector in Algeria. It will also develop the concept of solar and vehicle-to-grid mobility in order to stabilize the grid in the future when the electricity injected into the grid will be generated mainly from renewable energy, explained the Director of the CDER, Prof. Noureddine Yassaa.

In the future mode of sustainable transport, the electric car, charged by day with solar energy, will not only be a means of transport but also a source of energy for households in the evening, in the absence of the sun, added Director of the CDER.
Mr TOUABA estimated the cost of producing this electric car at around 700.000DA, which depends on the type of batteries used which can reach a range of 300kms, which shows the importance and the need to be interested in research in the field of production of these batteries, especially Lithium-Ion batteries. The advantages of this car are:
Non-polluting (zero GHG emissions once realized),
Can walk with conventional electricity and solar energy,
Economical if the batteries charge from the solar panels.

This electric car will be exhibited at the National Exhibition of Scientific Research Products to be organized by the General Directorate for Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT), from 18 to 23 May at SAFEX, Algiers, with the aim of to make discover the Algerian public and the investors in automobile.
