Participation of the CDER in the Day of Sustainable Human Development: Youm El’Ilm
On the occasion of the celebration of Youm El Ilm, the National Polytechnic School ENP, organized the 21st day of sustainable human development under the theme "for a 50% sustainable energy model in an innovative Algeria", Saturday 15 April 2017 at the headquarters of Sonatrach, Hydra.
The main objective of this day is to convince the presence on the possibility of ensuring an environmentally friendly development by guaranteeing Algeria the necessary conditions for its flourishing (water, energy and food) with 50% of sustainable.
The Official Opening Remarks were given by Mr. Noureddine BOUTERFA, Ministre of energy, with the presence of the PDG of Sonatrach, Mr. Abdelmoumen OULD KADDOUR, Mr. Hafid AOURAG, Général Manager of the Scientific Research and and Technological Development, The Counselor of the Prime Minister, Pr. Chems Eddine Chitour, Director of laboratory of valuation of fossil energy of ENP, the Director of CDER, Pr Noureddine YASSAA As well as senior executives, professors, researchers and the school’s engineering students.
The 21st Energy Day was held in two sessions, the first dealt with the development of water consumption withing 50% renewable model, climate change and Algeria, strategy for the development of the agriculture and the challenges of food security in Algeria by 2030. As for the second session, it affected energy consumption in the tertiary sector, a 50% photovoltaic energy model, the regeneration of used oils and food self-satisfaction.
The CDER participated in this day with an exhibition stand presenting the different activities of the Center in the field of Renewable Energies and sustainable development.
In addition, the Director of the CDER hosted a conference entitled "Technological Challenges of Energy Transition", where he reviewed the most relevant elements announced by the World Meteorological Organization, the International Renewable Energy Agency, the International Energy Agency and the United Nations Environment Program, with regard to climate change and renewable energies; Record temperature increase since the pre-industrial era of 1.1 ° C, a record level of carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere of 400 parts per million, the switching to renewable is one of the main reasons for stagnation of greenhouse gas emissions in 2016, for the third consecutive year, while production in the world economy increased by 3.1%, an installed capacity of renewable energy in the order of 2006 GW with 161 GW installed in 2016 and growth of almost 9% in 2016 compared to 2015, despite a drop in investment of 23% in 2016 compared to 2015, or 241 billion dollars, largely due to lower costs. Investment in renewable energy was twice that in fossil fuels.
At the end of his presentation Prof. Yassaa advocated encouraging the installation of solar systems in the residential and the tertiary to develop the new concept of citizen "prosumer", ie a citizen who consumes the energy that produces.
