Project: Role of the reactive gases and aerosols in the biogeochemical cycles and the ground radiative balance and the study of the impacts of the atmospheric pollution on the health, the oxidizing power of the atmosphere, the depletion of the ozone layer, the ocean acidification and the climate warming.
Abstract:
The air contains a multitude of chemical and biological compounds natural and anthropogenic (hydrocarbons, heavy metals, pesticides, viruses and bacteria). The atmospheric pollution worries the local and international authorities because of their direct impact on climate change, ozone layer, quality of the water and the health.
The purpose of this Project is to determine the role of reactive gases and aerosols in the biogeochemical cycles, the ground radiative balance and their impacts on health, air quality, climate change, depletion of the ozone layer, economy and technological impact.
In this first attempt, the bibliographical summary was carried, and then we began by the acquisition of measuring instruments (Aethalometer, VOC analyzer and Ozone analyzer). The control technique of aerosols characterization technics and radiative balance on a local scale. The results exploitation (statistical study and simulators), the comparison with the bibliography and data, until the drafting of the final report of this project will be proposed.
Objectives:
- Characterization of carbonaceous aerosols (black carbon) from the biomass burning, heating, forest fires, as well as industrial activities.
- Control of measuring instruments and methods of characterization of aerosols: optical characteristics, chemical components, size distribution …. Etc.
- Study of the impact of aerosols on ground radiative balance and evaluation of radiative forcing.
- Analyze of the evolution of biogeochemical cycles (Carbon, nitrogen, sulfur) and their impact on the chemical composition of the atmosphere.
