The Fist Algerian-Spanish meeting for Scientific Research and Technological Development Cooperation
The first Algeria-Spanish meeting for Scientific Research and Technological Development Cooperation was held the 21st April at the UDES/CDER in presence of the Spanish General Director for Scientific and Technical Development, Mme Marina Villegas and the Algeian General Director for Scientific Research and Technological Development, M. Hafid Aourag. This meeting started with a presentation of the Algerian and Spanish research systems. Two parallel sessions thandled renewable energy and optical photonic and lazer, materials and nanotechnology. Professor Noureddine Yassaa, Director of the CDER, led the renewable energy workshop.
Two presentations have been given by the Director of the Renewable Energy Division of CIEMAT, the Director of the Solar Plant of Almeria, the General Director of Renewable Energy Advanced Technologies Center of Andalusia (Sevilla), the Director of the Solar Photovoltaic Energy Division of the Renewable Energy National Center (Navarra), the Director of the Semi-conducting Technologies Development Center for Energy (CRTSE, Algeria) and the Director of the Renewable Energy Development Cneter (CDER, Algeria) in order to identify possible scientific cooperation domaines between the two countries.
At the end of this meeting, recommendations have been brought out. The exploitation of the solar technopole of Almeria to weel know solar and thermal concentration technologies and its applications in water distillation, sea and brackish water dessalination, waste water treatment and purification. The study on the behaviour of photovoltaic pannels and wind turbines in high temperatures and the effect of grain of sand on the performance of these equipments, the problem of integrating produced electricity from renewable sources on network stability, developing techniques of energy storage, the development of processes of bioenergy production from organic wastes recovery. The mobility of researchers between Algerian and Spanish research centers has been discussed, stressing on the need to build these strategic capacities in Algeria.
The Director of the CDER, Pr. Noureddine Yassaa, poposed to sign a Memorandum of Understading providing a long life for that cooperation and to drive official common research activities, the format of which will be set down by the two sides.
