A Web application for solar radiation calculation in Algeria

On the occasion of the 2014 winter solstice, the Renewable Energies Development Center (CDER) launches a Web application for solar radiation calculation.

The objective of this application is the simulation of different flow of solar radiation. To that end, two theorical approaches were choosen and adopted, valid on clear skies.

Using Perrin and Brichambaut models, the incidental solar irradiations on horizontal plan were estimated. These values have been exploited to estimate, as well as possible, the incidental solar radiation for different tilt and rotation, global radiation double and simple axis, and finally direct radiation double and simple axis using the Liu & Jordan model.

In this context, the application allows the calculation of various kind of solar radiations, for 79 sites in Algeria (ONM). The application allows modelling the entire incident solar radiation to optimize systems using solar energy, whether for their sizing or the evaluation of their performances.

The knowledge of the solar deposit is necessary in the sizing and the smooth running of any system working with solar energy. The data of the sun rays are used in the conception, the development, the realization, as well as in the evaluation of the performances of the systems of solar energy, but also for the construction of buildings with a view to better of a better heat insulation adapted to the geographical place.
