Controversy relation between energy and sustainable development
On the occasion of the double anniversary of : the creation of the General Union of the Algerian Workers and the decision of the nationalization of hydrocarbons , the department of Political Sciences of the University of Bouzareah organizes, the 24th and 25th of February 2015, in coordiantion with the CDER « Renewable Energies Development Center » in Bouzareah, a forum on:
«The controversy relation between energy and systainable development ».
The world uses, for its expention needs, energy from different sources, some come from raw materials, other from fossil Fuels as the coal, the oil and the natural gas, including the industrial energy as the nuclear energy. So, he also draws from natural sources commonly known as : Renewable energy, as solar, wind, hydric energy.
From now on, it is absolutely imperative more than ever for all countries : both producers and consumers, as for big companies, to look toward altenative forms of energy, with the ferm belief that fossil energies, and more particlarly oil, are depletable energies on one hand, and that these energies are the main factor in the increase of greenhouse gases which make global warming going from bad to worse.
Therefore, world actors look for ways of cooperation to develop the use of the renewable energies to protect the environment and promoting sustainable development in various sectors for futur generations. It was the message expressed by Mr. Jeroen Van DerVeer, CEO of the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company ( Shell), in HIS speech during the 142nd conference of the OPEC in 2006, saying: " we need a lot of energy but which has lesser impact on the environment ".
Algeria, as a petrolium producer, and seeing the rythm of its development these last years, settled a policy which aims to develop the use of renewable energies-in substitution to oil- in different fields es : agriculture, industry and housing, in order to reach the energetic independence in the futur.
In this context, the participants to this meeting will discuss on :
What is the contribution of renewable energies in sustainable development and the protection of the envirnment in Algeria ?
Topics of this Forum :
1. The sources of renewable energies in Algeria : between quantity and quality.
2. Renewable energies and their rôle in sustainable development in different fields in Algeria.
3. The agricultural use of renewable energies and its impact on the food safety in Algeria.
4. Cooperation policies Algeria-International to develop the exploitatio of renewable energies- Exemple of DESERTEC Deutsch project.
5. Mechanism of clean global development according to the Kyoto protocol.
6. The futur of Algeria and the other countries of the OPEC within the energetic transition towards renewable energies.
7. Specialized information and its rôle in the promotion of sustainable development.
