A group of Sahara Solar Breeder project on visit at the UDES, CDER, Bou-Ismail
A Japanese delegation visited the Solar Equipment Development Unit (UDES) on November 26th, 2014. This delegation represented by Doctor Hideomi Koinuma, "Sahara Solar Breeder Reseach Center" project manager was accompainied with the Director of the Renewable Energies Development Center (CDER), Sir.Yassaa Noureddine, and two Science and Technology University of Oran professors (USTO), an institution also sheltering a department of representation of the Japanese Agency of international cooperation ( JICA), an Algeria’s partner within the "Sahara Solar Breeder" project (SSB) which has been launched in 2010 under the Algerian-Japanese cooperation. This project aims to study the feasability, till 2015, carrying routing of the electrical energy from the regions of the South of the country towards the cities of the North. A plan which concerns the processing of the sun rays in electrical energy which will then be forwarded northward via superconductors (cables allowing the transport of electricity without loss of energy).
Three Angerian institutions are partner in this operation : the USTO, the "Tahar Moulay" Saida university (UTMS) and the Renewable Energies Research in Saharan Regions Unit (URER/MS) affiliated to the CDER. The Japanese counterpart includes, a consortium of eight Universities and Research institutes.
"Sahara solaire EnergyResearch Center" (SSERC) proposed as an initial aprt of the SSB project, coordonated by the university of Tokyo and the University of Science and Technologies of Oran (USTO), in order to promote the transfer of acadimical reserach SSERC to an industrial and economic level by settling a new global energy supply system. The "SSB" program is financed by two Japanese agencies for the International Cooperation (JICA) and Scientific and Technological Development (JSTA).
As such, several groups of young PhD students from Algerian institutions partner of the SSB acquired scientific equipments of last generation and picked up training courses in diverse segments of renewable energies, the most recent having been dedicated to the photovoltaic systems and to the superconductors.
For his part, Sir the Manager of the project " Sahara Solar Breeder Reseach Center " Hideomi Koinuma, expressed his enjoyment and its satisfaction seeing the various research and development activities led within the unit, after having made with Mister Belkacem Bouzidi, Director of the Unit, and the heads of the division, a technical visit of the various laboratories and the installations.
